Damp Proof Membrane

Polythene Damp Proof Membrane is a high quality durable, damp proof course that aids in preventing moisture flow in brick and blockwork from external sources.

A Damp proof course prevents water and moisture passing through from the exterior into the interior space and as such is a necessary component of any building project. Furthermore, it will prevent decay and structural damage such as dry rot, wet rot and rising damp.

DPC will prevent any moisture and associated salts and contaminants within the structure and protect the internal finishes by providing a physical barrier between the outside and the inside. It will significantly prolong the life of the internal finish whilst still allowing for natural evaporation of dampness from the structure.

The damp proof membrane should normally be covered with a layer of soft sand to act as a protection and to prevent damage when the concrete flooring or screeds are installed.
